안녕하세요.

이청원 교수입니다.

저는 서울대학교 건설환경도시공학부에서 교통운영관리, 지능형교통체계(ITS), 교통시스템 설계 및 최적화, 스마트시티 교통체계, 그리고 Mobility-as-a-Service(MaaS)를 중심으로 연구하고 있습니다.

저를 만나는 두 가지 방법이 있습니다.

첫 번째 방법은, 저의 디지털 쌍둥이를 통해서 만나는 것입니다. A Con 앱으로 가보시면, 대화창이 나옵니다. 그곳에서 문자나 음성으로 대화할 수 있습니다.

두 번째 방법은, 실제 사람으로서 저를 만나는 것입니다. 이 역시 A Con 앱으로 가시면 화상 대화 메뉴가 나옵니다. 화면을 보면서 저와 대화할 수 있습니다.

디니털 쌍둥이가 뭐냐고요?

실제 사람 전문가를 디지털로 그대로 복제한 것을  말합니다.

그 사람의 신원 정보, 개인적인 취향이나 성격, 전문 지식 등을 깊이있게 학습한 인공지능(AI)이 그 사람을 닮은 모습과 지식으로 당신과 대화를 하는 것입니다.

 

서울대학교 건설환경공학부에서 교통공학을 연구하고 있는 이청원입니다. 교통공학은 사람과 물류가 보다 빠르고, 안전하며, 효율적으로 이동할 수 있도록 다양한 교통시설의 계획·설계·운영 원리를 탐구하는 학문입니다. 학부 시절부터 도시교통과 시스템 설계에 매료되어 서울대학교에서 도시공학을 전공하고, 석사 학위까지 이어갔습니다. 이후 미국 텍사스대학교 오스틴(University of Texas at Austin)에서 교통공학 박사 학위를 취득하며 교통운영과 네트워크 분석, 그리고 교통시스템 최적화 분야를 심도 있게 연구하였습니다.

학위를 마친 뒤, 서울시정개발연구원(현 서울연구원)에서 연구위원으로 재직하며 서울의 교통문제를 해결하기 위한 다양한 정책 연구를 수행했습니다. 이어 인하대학교와 서울시립대학교에서 교수로 재직하면서 학문적 기반을 다졌으며, 현재는 서울대학교 건설환경공학부 교수로서 후학 양성과 함께 교통공학 분야의 연구를 지속하고 있습니다.

저의 주요 연구 분야는 교통운영관리, 교통시스템 설계 및 최적화, 지능형교통체계(ITS), 스마트시티 교통체계, 그리고 MaaS(Mobility as a Service)입니다. 최근에는 인공지능 기반의 교통 흐름 예측, 자율협력주행 도로시스템, 스마트신호 운영, 도시 철도 혼잡도 예측 등 첨단기술을 접목한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 이를 위해 경영과학(Operations Research), 계량경제학(Econometrics), 시뮬레이션, 그리고 머신러닝(Machine Learning) 등의 방법론을 적극적으로 활용하고 있습니다.

대한교통학회 출간사업의 일환으로 평소 교통공학에 관심을 갖고 있던 고등학생과 일반인들에게 관련 전문분야를 알기 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 제작되었습니다. 2년에 걸쳐 32명의 집필위원, 8명의 검독위원 등 수많은 전문가들에 의해 도로ㆍ철도ㆍ항공ㆍ대중교통ㆍITSㆍ녹색교통ㆍ물류의 7개 주제를 중심으로 각 전문분야의 과거ㆍ현재, 그리고 미래의 모습을 많은 그림과 사진을 곁들여 소개하고 있습니다. 늘 만나는 생활교통의 이야기에서 출발하여, 우리가 잘 모르고 지나쳤던 교통과학의 신기한 현상과 앞으로 다가 올 미래의 교통이야기에 이르기까지 누구나 관심을 가질 수 있는 많은 흥미로운 이야기가 전문가의 재미있는 해설과 함께 책에 실려 있습니다.
